Two New Beer Companies are Brewing in the Design District
Ever since city council voted to allow breweries to open within industrial and other non-residential areas, they have been springing up all over Dallas. The Design District welcomed its first brewery, Peticolas, earlier this year, and now two more are joining its ranks: Community Beer Company & Reunion Brewing Company.
Community plans to open its doors in mid-to-late November, and will focus on being an asset to the neighborhood and to the city as a whole by donating its space for art happenings and other nonprofit events, as well as offering tours and tastings throughout the year.
“Part of what we want to do is be a real part of the community, and having this central location is going to help us reach that goal,” said brewery manager Jamie Fulton in an interview with Beer Betties.
The first Community beers to hit the market will be their award-winning “Vienna Lager,” a Witbier, an ESB called “Public Ale” and a stronger, dark Belgian ale named “Inspiration” after the street that houses the brewery.
Reunion Brewing Company will be moving into 1001 N. Riverfront Blvd., in the old DFW Big
Rig Reconditioning Center, and are aiming for a summer 2013 opening date.
According to their website, “We plan to to produce three well-balanced, aromatic core brews that will be available year-round. In addition, we will have flavorful seasonal and limited edition ales. Right now we think an Amber, Kolsch and an India Pale Ale are in order, but who knows, anything is possible!”
